Creative Writing
Overview
Sandra is an experienced author of fiction and creative non-fiction, with a focus on stories that represent authentic autistic experiences. She has also conducted extensive research on th e representation of autism in entertainment media. Larger workshops can also be co-facilitated by Lincoln Jones, author of Don't Fix Me, I'm Not Broken.
Stand-alone workshops
Workshops for autistic people of all ages are designed to encourage and support novice and experienced writers to explore their creativity. They cover practical aspects such as finding inspiration, story planning and editing whilst providing opportunities to develop and share ideas in a safe and supportive environment.
Workshop Series
Workshop series allow for greater exploration of practical aspects of story writing, including specific sessions on character development, settings, and other elements. They also provide an opportunity for participants to work on a creative piece (or series of pieces) over time in a supportive environment with input from facilitators and fellow participants.
Workshop costs
FACILITATOR: (based on ASA recommended rates): half-day $630, full-day $945
MATERIALS: $10 per participant (covers handouts, folders & other materials)
EXTENDED TRAVEL: no charge for Melbourne metro, price by negotiation for regional, rural or interstate
OPTIONAL: For workshop series we can also provide services in collating, editing and producing an anthology of participants' work for printing in book format (including ISBN)
